Something about us ...
More than twenty-five years ago we came for the first time with our sailing ship in Zierikzee. It was love at first sight! And that made us moored every year at the quay. We always stayed longer than planned and enjoyed the historic city, the conviviality of the harbor and the beautiful nature around the city. In 2016, a long-cherished dream came true and we bought our house in Zierikzee. The house is in a beautiful spot in Poortambacht. With a view of the thick tower, the mill and the harbor a stone's throw away. Just behind our house is Plan Tureluur: more than 1000 hectares of nature and part of National Park Oosterschelde. This wetland is the habitat of many different followers and is a unique place for nature lovers and peace seekers.
You are welcome!

Discover Zierikzee and explore the beautiful Schouwen Duiveland ...
The origin of Zierikzee
Around the sixth century, Schouwen Duiveland was still divided into four separate islands: Schouwen, Duiveland, Dreischor and Bommenede. The islands were separated by water and salt marshes. The Gouwe flowed between the two largest islands and Zierikzee was created on the south-eastern side of Schouwen. The first occupants settled on the west side of the current city around the Ee cry. According to tradition, history goes back to 849 and the city is named after Ziringus or Zierik who was the founder of the new settlement on the Ee. Hence the name Zieriks' Ee. Although a logical explanation, there is no evidence for this legend.
The historic city center
The nearly six hundred monuments determine the character of the city. Everywhere you come you imagine yourself back in the Middle Ages. There is plenty to see and do and especially in the summer Zierikzee is a true tourist attraction. In the streets you can find nice shops, workshops and galleries. On Thursday is the market day on Havenplein. Along the harbor are fishing boats that sail to the mussel beds every day.
In short, it is wonderful to stay in Zierikzee!
